Moving Forward

Albany Contract Furniture supplies furniture to a range of public and private sectors, including commerce, leisure and education.  Based in Gateshead, some of their well-known clients include the celebrated Toffee Factory in Ouseburn and legal firm Muckle.

The company began trading under the name of Albany Office Furniture Solutions in 1980 and built up a solid reputation supplying and installing furniture across the North East.

About four years ago, Managing Director David Wilkinson and his staff spotted a gap in the marketplace, which inspired them to open a resource centre for architects and designers and other discerning customers on the lookout for unique products.  This is the only centre of its kind outside of London.

The new brand was named Workpattern and has its own premises on the Quayside, and boasts clients across England and Scotland.  A wider product range means they are able to supply to care homes, restaurants and colleges, and heralded the new name of Albany Contract Furniture.  The company expects its turnover to increase from about £3.5m to over £5m.

Following on from this success, Albany Contract Furniture has welcomed John Wilmore to the team, who will be involved in the new service of fitting out premises – fitting carpets, lighting and so on.
